Jelly 01:51
These days don’t count for anything, there’s nothing left to work towards / I might have been happy once but I can’t remember anymore / I can’t go on, it won’t be long, I don’t know what I’m living for / I look for explanations in the TV shows and films I watch / to keep my mind occupied, so I don’t become myself too much / I don’t fit in the real world, I’m starting to get out of touch // If you’re worthwhile, you hide it awfully well / Maybe you should just / If you're alright, you hide it awfully well / Maybe you should just KY // I take for granted everything I have that’s worth holding on to / I chuck it out and make out like it’s what I want to do / But am I doing what I want or just what others don’t want me to do? / I don’t know what I am or what I was or what I want to be / All that I know I want I know is better off not having me / I say this and I grimace when the mirror’s looking back at me // If you believe in me, will you believe in me tomorrow? / With both of us deceived, will you be leaving me tomorrow? / It’s no surprise. Your eyes, once bright, have died and can’t disguise your lies any longer / I hope you're not too far behind // If you’re worthwhile, you hide it awfully well / Maybe you should just / If you're alright, you hide it awfully well / Maybe you should just KY // Every single day I wake up wishing I had not but this is nothing, I’m just thinking out loud //

Losing It 01:13
Thick and full, and beautiful, a gorgeous head of hair / But just ten years later and there’s almost nothing there / Style is now irrelevant, your enemy’s the cold / Face it, son. Nowt can be done, it’s part of getting old // It’s falling out much quicker, your forehead’s getting bigger / And it just looks so much worse if you try to comb it down / Now you can barely even look at yourself in the mirror / Thank God you can’t see that crop circle forming on your crown // You’re starting to realise, it’s way worse than you think / You started brushing your teeth but wound up carpeting the sink / It comes out with no effort now, your follicles are dying off // You’re sporting a barren wasteland / This isn’t a problem below the wasteband / Bic the carpet to match the curtains / The battle is over, you can’t win, you’re just going bald //

Ojos Negros 04:49
Black eyes stare down large lives, small now / Sinking into nothing / Long nails sink deep, pry out fixed teeth / Spitting crimson bile // Think big / Dream in colour kids / You only get one time around / Think small / That’s what you’re heading for / These eyes were made to stare you down // You’ve got no future, no / You’ve got to learn to let it go / You’ve got game but you’re sitting on the sidelines / And we may never see the day / That you run out of things to say / You throw shade but you’re no more than an outline // You can’t swim here, you can’t sing here / You can’t stand near my front garden / You can’t bleed here, you can’t eat here / You can’t generate body heat here / You can’t grow here, you can’t own here / You don’t know fear, you can’t know / Old world, sold world, cold world, no world / You can’t stay but you can’t go (go home) / Learn all your dreams, they’re in your screens / They’re easy to achieve and they’ll make you whole // It’s all in your head. You can’t defang us, you can’t stare us down. You’re outdated, hated, defeated. Your lies are repeated but repetition’s just funny, Mate / You want us dead behind the eyes, But we’re alive and we’ve found something else. Something more that your threats, and your plays, And your old cold ways, and we’re fucking out // Just keep telling me how, you cannot stop me now / This is all and fuck the rest, I’m far away from you / Eyes black as an oil slick, but old age made them myopic / We don’t meassure success the same way that you do //

I break, I mend / I twist, I bend / I stretch, I contract / I flex, I relax / I learn, I forget / I yearn, I reject / I doubt, I believe / I give, I receive // Another year. Don't waste your time / There's nothing here for you to find // And I don't want this // I think, I choose / I win, I lose / I see, I hear / I dream, I fear / I touch, I feel / I clutch, I release / I taste, I smell / I continue, I cease / I waste // Another year. Don't waste your time / There's nothing here for you to find / Another day. Don't lose your head / The easy way is up ahead // And I don't want this // I don't, I do / I can't, I can / I won't, I will / I'm not, I am //

When two lovers meet in Mayfair So the legands tell Songbirds sing and winter turns to spring Every winding street in Mayfair falls beneath the spell I know such enchantment can be 'cause it happened one evening to me That certain night The night we met There was magic abroad in the air There were angels dining at the Ritz And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square I may be right I may be wrong But I'm perfectly willing to swear That when you turned and smiled at me A nightingale sang in Berkeley square The moon that lingered over London town Poor puzzled moon he wore a frown How could he know we two were so in love The whole damned world seemed upside down The streets of town were paved with stars It was such a romantic affair And as we kissed and said goodnight A nightingale sang in Berkeley square How strange it was How sweet and strange There was never a dream to compare To those hazy crazy nights we met And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square Ah this heart of mine Loud and fast Like a merry-go-round in a fair We would dance cheek to cheek And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square The dawn came stealing up All gold and blue To interrupt our rendez-vous I still remember how you smiled and said Was that a dream or was it true? Our homeward step was just as light As the dancing feet of Astaire And like an echo far away A nightingale sang in Berkeley square I know 'cause I was there That night in Berkeley square.

Hat 04:21
He likes things just the way they are, he hopes this doesn’t go too far, he’s comfortable / He’s got his rights and he doesn’t want that to end, he’s a champion of the struggle to his online friends, it’s magical / He’s a nice guy but he never had much luck with the girls, so he got used to his own company in his own little world, it’s quite sad, but still / He got himself a date on the Skyrim forum / He’s pretty nervouse now he stands before her / In his suit jacket and a new fedora, it’s beautiful // And he pays for the tickets and the popcorn, that she might hold his hand / And he tells her how feminism will ruin the world, but she doesn’t understand / And he laughs when she tells him she’s religious, and he tries to change her mind / And his nervousness turns to confidence, ‘cause now he knows she’s not too bright / And at the end of the night // When he says, “Hey, we should do this again.” / He can only stand bewildered when she just laughs and says, “No thanks” / ‘Cause he was the perfect gentleman / Held open all those doors, paid for it all / Maybe she said she doesn’t like popcorn, but if he’s paying, she can’t complain if she gets popcorn // He tries so hard, but they never go home with him / Doesn’t it break your heart, how he’s treated by these women / ‘Cause they talk all night, and he knows he’s interesting / He suspects they might all just be lesbians, wasting his time // And when he recounts the night to all his friends / They can only reaffirm all of his suspicions / ‘Cause otherwise how could she resist him / And his outpouring of chivalry, intelligence, corrections of her flaws, money, insights and open doors? / There’s no other explanation // He tries so hard, but they never go home with him / Doesn’t it break your heart, how he’s treated by these women / ‘Cause they talk all night, and he knows he’s interesting / He suspects they might all just be lesbians, wasting his time // A waste of time //

about

I started writing this album in August 2018. At the time I was just writing a couple of songs, then over the next couple of months I wrote an album's worth. One of those first couple songs isn't on here now, but the other one became the first song, "Jelly". I was hoping to get this all done within three or four months but it took a little longer. I'm trying some stuff out on this album. I have another album which I've been writing for longer, but this was a quick, low effort sort of thing. Not that it didn't take any effort, but it was meant to be a quick little thing. For example, due to my set up, all the guitar tracks are a little noisy, and they certainly aren't all performed perfectly. No bother. For the next album I should be making a bit more of an effort for it to be high quality recordings. Like I said, I'm trying stuff out on this one. There's a spoken track, some cheesey stuff, some quite daft songs, an instrumental track that doesn't really fit with the rest of it, an acoustic song. I was messing around a bit with a new bass plugin. I don't know how to finish writing this. I'm tired. I should maybe do this another time.

about

Dr. Nowt Manchester, UK

Born at the dank floor of a ceaselessly deepening pit, Dr. Nowt, in his decreasing sanity, haphazardly hurls notes and words together, bellowing out the result upward through the void in the hope that it might reach the surface, even just to the lip of his abode where by chance, one might happen upon his cries and project outward his message of peace, kindness, hope and a distaste for humanity. ... more
